    The course presents itself as an introduction to the study of the basic concepts of South American history from an interdisciplinary approach. The objectives are to: -Analyze music, poetry and plastic arts that bring themes about South America. -Identify through music, poetry and plastic arts the intention to demonstrate perspectives on South America. -Reflect about the historical processes responsible for the construction of the cultural identity of South America. -Relate the exposed music, poetry and plastic arts with the political, social and economic situation of the period of their releases. -Recognize the common political, social, and economic realities of South America. -Reflect on the relationship between Europe and South America. -Stimulate new perspectives on South America. -Show students that history is dynamic and that political relations between countries culminate in reactions from various social sectors, including the artistic one. The course is taught in English.

    Nemandi skal hafa öðlast þekkingu og skilning á:
    • the main topics of the historical processes of the countries of South America
    • the diaspora of the peoples of South America
    • the importance of the histories of the cultures of the countries of South America and identify differences and similarities between them
    • the connection of different peoples and the influence of the colonization system for the cultural identity of the countries of South America
    • forms of resistance, such as dance and music practiced in South America in the constitution of the identity of these peoples and their countries
    • the main problems faced by the population of South American countries
    Nemandi skal hafa öðlast leikni í að:
    • autonomy during the teaching-learning process
    • identifying, comparing, contextualizing, interpreting and analyzing historical processes
    • constructing this concept of South America from the discussions and materials presented during the course, from historiographical knowledge and from their own cultural baggage
    • understanding, at least in part, the historical process of shaping the history of South America
    • being a more aware citizen of current political, social and economic issues by critical and reflective thinking
    Nemandi skal geta hagnýtt þá almennu þekkingu og leikni sem hann hefur aflað sér til að:
    • expand the cultural repertoire and be able to use critical and reflective thinking about cultural diversity, whether national or foreign
    • use argumentative competence in relation to aspects related to culture and society
    • master the ability to communicate in order to express oneself adequately and satisfactorily in the various verbal and non-verbal means of communication
    • connect with the digital culture and have developed creative thinking through greater skill in using technological tools and sharing ideas, reflections and interpretation of information
    • organize his/her studies
    • be aware of the importance of empathy, human rights and valuing the diversity of people and social groups with their knowledge, cultures, identities and potential without prejudice
    • critically reflect on its importance in building a more democratic, equitable, solidary and sustainable society
